On Boxing Day 2013, Ramblers Head Coach Greg Evans and Junior Co-ordinator Karen Lindsay took a team to the USA to play against US varsity teams and experience college and NBA basketball. The team comprised Ramblers junior players and two ‘guests’ from the Northern Territory state team
Playing as the ‘Canberra Flames’ the girls played a number of teams from Boston, Virginia and North Carolina; watched a NBA game between the Celtics and Cavaliers; watched both the mens and womens UNC college teams play; attended training sessions with the Harvard and Duke womens NCAA Div 1 teams; and went sightseeing in New York and Los Angeles.
The trip was a fantastic experience for the girls and the club is keen to organise more US basketball trips in the future.
