The Belconnen Ramblers junior program is one of Canberra’s longest-running and most welcoming junior basketball competitions. With over 55 years of history, we offer a pathway for players from their first time on the court through to elite Junior Premier League competition.
Age Groups and Competition Levels
We field junior teams across all age groups from Under 10 to Under 19, competing in Basketball ACT’s winter and summer competitions:
- Under 10 (2017 and later) — introductory competition focused on skills and fun
- Under 12 (2015–2016) — Division 1 to 6
- Under 14 (2013–2014) — Division 1 to 6
- Under 16 (2011–2012) — Division 1 to 6
- Under 19 (2008–2010) — Division 1 to 6
Selected players may also be invited to represent Ramblers in the Junior Premier League (JPL) — the top tier of junior basketball in the ACT — or identified as Development Players, playing in a second team to accelerate their growth.
New to Basketball?
You do not need any prior experience to join the Ramblers. We welcome players of all abilities and are committed to building skills, confidence, and a love of the game. Our coaches are experienced in working with beginners, and the junior community at Ramblers is genuinely supportive.
We try to place all new players but spots are sometimes limited mid-season. Check our Next Season page for current availability, or get in touch and our coordinators will do their best to help.
Training and Games
All junior training sessions are held at Melba Copland College in Evatt. Games are played on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at venues across Canberra, with specific times depending on your age group and division. Full details are available on the Basketball ACT website and through your team’s coach.
Fees
Winter 2026 base registration is $385 per player (including the BACT registration levy of $65). Discounts are available for siblings and volunteers. See the Junior Fees page for full details including JPL surcharges, Under 10s discounts, and payment plan options.
How to Register
Registration opens approximately six weeks before each season. Our Junior Coordinators will send a link to the online registration form via email. If you are new to the club, start by getting in touch and we will add you to our contacts list.
Contact our Junior Coordinators to express your interest or ask any questions — we are always happy to hear from new families.
