Discounts

Basketball can be expensive, especially for families with multiple players. To help our members, Ramblers offers three primary financial strategies:

  1. Keeping costs to a minimum. Our finances are open for any member to review. Financial results are distributed to all attendees of our Annual General Meeting. The Treasurer maintains tight control of expenses as we continue to provide the best value of any basketball club in Canberra.
  2. Flexible payment instalments. Members can pay fees in equal weekly, fortnightly, or monthly instalments across the season. This needs to be arranged prior to the season commencing.
  3. Discounts for volunteers. Every volunteer role within Ramblers attracts a discount. These can accumulate — for example, a Committee member who also coaches and manages a team could receive $150 off.

If you want to volunteer, please let us know before registering so we can provide your discount code.

Discount Amount
Coach $50 per team, per season
Committee Member $50 per season
Team Manager $50 per team, per season
Sibling $57.75 per additional child (15%, non-accumulative)

To receive any applicable discount, please ensure you have a discount code before registering and paying fees.

The committee acknowledges there are other volunteers — including assistant coaches and support roles — who contribute their time but do not currently receive a discount. The club is committed to exploring ways to formally recognise these individuals.

Development Players

The Ramblers Committee regularly identifies junior players who would benefit from playing in two teams during a season for skills development. Individuals will be invited to participate as Development Players at the start of the season by the Junior Coordinators. A small additional fee applies for the second team placement.

Registration

Basketball Australia charges an affiliation fee for all players nationwide, covering player insurance for injuries during play or training and Basketball ACT Public Liability cover. Full details are available on the Basketball ACT website. The registration fee is paid per season as part of the Ramblers Registration and Fee Payment process.

Refunds

Refunds will not be provided unless there are extenuating circumstances and will be at the discretion of the Belconnen Ramblers Committee. Any refund approved will be less a 5% payment handling fee. Please email the Treasurer to discuss your circumstances.

Fines and Loss or Damage

Any team that incurs a duty or forfeit fine will have that fine passed on equally to all members of that team.

If a player has been provided with a Ramblers player singlet on loan, they are fully responsible for the uniform. Any costs due to damage or loss will be invoiced to the player.

Clearances

No clearances to other clubs or schools will be provided until all outstanding fees payable to Belconnen Ramblers are settled and all Ramblers uniforms have been returned to the club.

Disputes

All disputes regarding fees payable should be referred to the Belconnen Ramblers Treasurer and/or Club President in the first instance.

Payment Plan

If you would like to spread your fees across the season via direct debit, the club offers a payment plan through Pay Advantage. See the Payment Plan & Registration Process page for full instructions.
