Happy New Year. I hope everyone had a restful Christmas/New Years break and ready for a great 2024 full of basketball.
I would like to invite all past, current and future players to attend the upcoming Belconnen Ramblers Junior Basketball Trials. For those newer to the Club, Ramblers holds our trials annually at the commencement of the year. This is the best time to show the coaches and managers what you can do on the court.
These trials will be for placement in our Division 1 through to Division 6 teams for both boys and girls from Under 12’s to Under 19’s. Late last year, we held trials for our Junior Premier League (JPL) teams but if you missed out and are interested, please email juniors@ramblers.net.au.
I hope you’re all able to make trials but if you can’t and still would like to join Ramblers for the 2024 season, please still complete the below form but also email juniors@ramblers.net.au to let us know you can’t make it on the day.

Quick side note, there’s been a lot of work put in to our website over the Christmas / New Year period. I’m happy to say that it has a whole new look and feel, has all its security issues addressed and lots of new content. We still have some work to do but it’s well worth a visit.

I’m guessing everyone is interested in what will be the fees this year. Well, they’re currently under an external review process but at this stage but are expecting to see an increase in fees of about 8%. This will be due to the increased costs from team nominations fees as set by Basketball ACT and well beyond our control. Please note that your committee works very hard to keep all costs to a minimum and provide some super flexible payment options. If you would like to learn more please email treasurer@ramblers.net.au
Our registration and payment platform, PlayHQ as provided by Basketball ACT, has implemented some new payment options, but the biggest one that we think will be popular is the splitting of payments over 4 fortnights. It works very similar to AfterPay, but I understand this payment platform provided by PayPal. PayPal being the payment engine of eBay. On top of this, Ramblers will continue to offer our very flexible direct debit option for fee payment. If you would like to learn more, please email treasurer@ramblers.net.au
Also, don’t forget there are good discounts for volunteering time to our Club. This includes coaching and managing teams, but also being part of the committee or taking on special projects on behalf of the committee. These can accumulate too, so if you’re on the Committee, and you coach, and you manage a team, that could add up to a $150 discount. The only limit as you can’t exceed 100% of your Ramblers fees. A good example is we have a couple of husband/wife teams that coach and manage a team, and that gives them $100 off, each season. If you want to volunteer, please let us know before registering to ensure we can give you the discount code.
