Fees are payable directly to Belconnen Ramblers Basketball Club and are paid prior to the commencement of the season. Fees cover team registration fees, training costs, and other expenses resulting from running a sporting club. An additional registration fee is charged by Basketball ACT to cover player insurance, and a Basketball Australia development fee. All fees are collected using the online form provided by Basketball ACT.
Basketball is an expensive sport, especially if you have more than one player in the Club. To help our members, Rambler have three primary financial strategies:
- Keeping our costs to an absolute minimum. Our finances are open for any member to review if they are interested. Also, the financial results are distributed to all attendees of our Annual General Meeting. The Treasurer maintains a very tight control of our expenses as we continue to strive to provide the best value for money of all basketball clubs in Canberra.
- Payment via weekly/fortnight/monthly instalments. The Club has a great offering with allowing any member to pay fees in equal payments over the entire season. Its super simple but needs to be set up prior to the commencement of the season.
- Discounts for volunteers. Every volunteer role within Ramblers attracts a $50 discount per season. These can accumulate too, so if you’re on the Committee, and you coach, and you manage a team, that could add up to a $150 discount. We have a couple of husband/wife teams that coach and manage a team, and that gives them $100 off, each season.
** If you want to volunteer, please let us know before registering to ensure we can give you the discount code**
Discounts
Coaches: | $50.00 (per team, per season) |
Committee: | $50.00 (per season) |
Sibling: | 15% per additional child (non-accumulative) |
Senior Manager: | $50.00 (per team, per season) |
The purpose of the discounts are to recognise individuals that volunteer their time for the benefit of the club. The committee notes there are other groups of individuals that also contribute their time but do not receive a discount. This includes but not limited to Assistant Coaches and the Water Boy. The club is committed to looking at options to formally recognise these individuals.
To receive any applicable discount, please ensure you are provided with a Discount code prior to registering and paying fees.
Registration
Basketball Australia has introduced an affiliation fee for all players nationwide. This fee is used to cover player insurance, should they become injured during play or training. The fee also provides Basketball ACT Public Liability cover for all members. Full details of the Insurance Cover can be found on the Basketball ACT website.
The registration fee is paid per season during the Ramblers Registration and Fee Payment process. The money goes directly to Basketball ACT.
Development Players
The Belconnen Ramblers Committee regularly identifies individual junior players that would benefit from playing in two teams during a season for skills development purposes. This is referred to as being identified as a Development Player. Individuals will be invited to be Development players at the commencement of the season by the Junior Delegates. However, there is a small additional fee to play in the second team.
Refunds
Refunds will not be provided unless there are extenuating circumstances and will be done so at the discretion of the Belconnen Ramblers Committee. Any refund provided will be less a 5% payment handling fee. Please email the Treasurer for a copy of the refund application form.
Fines and loss or damage
Any team that incurs a duty or forfeit fine will have that fine passed onto the members of that team. Each member of the team will be invoiced an equal amount of the total value to the fine.
If a player has been provided with a Ramblers player singlet on loan, they are fully responsible for the provided uniform. Any costs incurred by the Rambler Basketball Club due to damage or loss of this uniform will invoiced to the player.
Clearances
No clearances to other clubs or schools will be provided until all outstanding fees payable to Belconnen Ramblers are settled and all Belconnen Ramblers’ uniforms are returned to the club.
Disputes
All disputes regarding fees payable should be referred to the Belconnen Ramblers Treasurer and/or the Club President in the first instance.
