Built by Ramblers, for Ramblers: our very own club app is live

Belconnen Ramblers has launched its own custom-built club app, developed in-house to make life easier for our players, families and volunteers.

We’re proud to share some genuinely exciting news. The Ramblers now have our very own club management app, designed and built specifically for our club. Not an off-the-shelf product we’ve rented, and not a generic system stretched to fit. This was built by us, for us, around the way our club actually runs.

To the best of our knowledge, we may be one of the first basketball clubs in the country, and quite possibly the first in Canberra, to build our own club app from the ground up. For a volunteer-run foundation club that has been part of ACT basketball since the 1970s, we think that’s something worth celebrating.

What it means for our families

The whole point of this project was simple: spend less time on paperwork and more time on basketball. Here’s what changes for you.

Registering interest is now easy, all year round. Missed trials? Looking to join us mid-season? You can now register your interest online at any time and we’ll be in touch. No more chasing an email address and hoping it lands with the right person.

Trials are streamlined. When trials open, you can register online in a few minutes. Everything flows straight through to our coaches and committee, so nothing gets lost.

Better communication. Team information, training details and club updates now reach families more reliably. When a team is formed or something changes, like a new training time or a new coach, the updated details go out cleanly rather than getting buried in a long email chain.

Fill-in players, sorted faster. When a team is short for a game, coaches and managers can now request a fill-in player through the system instead of ringing around. That means fewer forfeits and more games going ahead.

Flexible payments. Families can apply for a direct debit payment plan through PayAdvantage, so season fees can be spread out rather than paid in one hit.

Always up to date. Training times and fees shown on our website now come straight from our own system, so the information you see is current.

Built by us, for us

This app was developed by our own volunteers, using modern tools, and it belongs to the club outright. Every part of it was shaped around how the Ramblers actually operate, from the way we run trials to the way we assign player numbers and manage teams across our junior and senior competitions.

Because we built it ourselves, it can keep growing with us. We already have ideas for what comes next, and we’ll keep improving it season by season based on what our families and volunteers tell us.

A quiet revolution in club admin

Behind the scenes, this replaces a tangle of spreadsheets, email lists and manual processes that our volunteers have juggled for years. Less admin time means our committee, coaches and managers can focus on what matters: giving every player, from Under 10s to our 18-to-80 social squads, a great experience.

We want to thank everyone who put time into making this happen. It’s a genuine reflection of our club culture: people pitching in, for the love of the game and the community around it.
